Jordan Anderson

Have you ever met someone who could pick up any instrument and instantly play it proficiently? My friend Jordan is one of those people. I had the great pleasure of working with him on a few projects—Welcome Home, La Bête—and some solo recordings. The latter were made in a number of places: Harvard’s piano rooms, his Somerville apartment, my studio in Roxbury. The majority of tracking was done on my vintage Tascam 4-track tape machine and a few tunes were multi-tracked digitally. I played percussion and Jordan played all the other instruments. We didn’t stress out too much getting the “best” take, things flowed naturally, and (I feel) Jordan’s humble sincerity was beautifully represented.

Jordan is now based in Portland, Oregon and is still making music under the name Grand Mal. He’s also a fantastic writer and one of the most hilarious people I’ve ever known. I really miss making music with him.
