ABOUT

I moved to Boston in ’97 from my hometown of KCMO. I went to college, made a ton of art and music, and met some good folks who are sure to be life-long friends and collaborators. I conspired with some of those same creative, hard-working individuals to build the second generation of independent, non-profit art and performance space Oni Gallery in Chinatown. I was also the official show photographer for Kaiju. Finding the art world somewhat frustrating, I shifted my focus from visual art to music and film. Under the tutelage of Eric Masunaga I engineered at and managed Modulus Studio in Boston for three years. Here I had the opportunity to work on projects for Richard Thompson, Paul Kelly, Throwing Muses, Superchunk, Blank Stare, and filmmakers Andrew Bujalski (Mutual Appreciation, Funny Ha-Ha) Cheryl Eagan-Donovan (All Kindsa Girls – the Real Kids documentary), and Robert Gardner (Dead Birds, Screening Room) among many others. 2006-2009 I was media services director at Documentary Educational Resources and I’ve been working directly with Robert Gardner and Studio7Arts since late ’06.

I occasionally record bands at my studio, Blast Zone, in the basement of the Berwick building in beautiful Dudley Square, Roxbury, MA. I am especially proud of the recordings I’ve done for Jordan Anderson, Leaders, The Conversions, George Lewis Jr, Geoglyphs and General Interest.

When I’m not on the road touring managing and running lights for Twin Shadow I split my time between Boston, New York and Kansas City playing music, book making, doing video production and post-production work, making photographs, and working on my grandmother’s Buick, a big ol’ lifted 4×4 truck, a Porsche 944, and a 1967 Alfa Romeo GTV.
